On the 2nd of August Year 7A English students made their way to Federation Square to participate in ACMI’s “Cut it Out – Stop Motion” Workshop. Their participation in this workshop served as one of their assessments in their recent studies of Film and Animation.

The day started with some information about animation and film and why these are important elements of learning. Following a brief seminar, students set out to create their own stop motion animations. Stop motion is an animation technique that physically manipulates an object so that it appears to move on its own. The object is moved in small increments between individually photographed frames, creating the illusion of movement when the series of frames is played as a continuous sequence.

Students created and edited their films to include music and sound effects and the end results were fantastic.

Throughout the remainder of the term, other classes will also attend this workshop.
